ScholarshipsThe Walter Bach Memorial Walter was also able to continue the legacy of his father, who had created a camp for underpriviledged children in Geneva, Wisconsin, called the Norman Barr Camp. The Norman Barr Camp would bring in buses of children for 2 weeks at a time to enjoy things like swimming in a lake and arts and crafts. In addition, the youth also learned about things such as a the importance of good diet. This scholarship of $1000 has been established to provide assistance to students furthering their education who have had caregiving responsibilities for a family member.
Vera was an educator and a caregiver for her husband. Her heart was very touched when she learned about youth caregivers and generously began the scholarship program for the Caregivers Support Network.
This scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors or reapplying college students with a caregiving youth experience. The scholarship provides $1,000 to the student to be applied toward their financial needs for college. For more information on these scholarships or to apply, go to the Pinellas Education Foundation website and apply through the Caregiving Youth Scholarship.
